"Life isn't always made to order." That's the tagline of the movie. Which I so related to in more ways than one. "No Reservations," starring Catherine Zeta Jones and cutie Aaron Eckhart (is he really Italian? I looove Italian guys!), is your human version of "Ratatouille"--minus the gross mice in the kitchen. Which is why I loved the movie!
Although the storyline is predictable--It's about this hardworking chef (Catherine) who doesn't have a life other than her kitchen (she goes home alone, eats alone, works hard....relate ka ba, abi?) then meets a robust sous chef in Aaron. They fall in love, have conflicts, blah blah, blah blah--I liked it because of the touching scenes and dialogue.
Or maybe I just related to it.
One particular scene stuck to me, when Catherine was talking to her shrink, complaining about life. She goes, "Why can't life just have a recipe, so I'll just follow it?"
The shrink said, "You know the answer. Because the best recipes are the ones you make."
Despite the other dragging scenes (because of the director's attempt on making it look like an art film like its original German version), it touched right to my core.
And the impact?
I spent the entire day in my kitchen after watching it. Here's my tuna fusilli a la abi. :)
